Description
“Ichtegem’s” Oud Bruin – red-brown Flanders ale, brewed in the old way using different types of malt (75% Pilsner, 20% Ambre, 5% dark caramel). The beer has a gravity of 15% and an unobtrusive bitterness of 18 IBU, which comes from hopping with the famous hops from Poperinge. After the main fermentation at 18C, 80% of the beer is aged at 0C for about 2 months. The remaining 20% of the beer is sent to oak barrels, where it undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Fermentation in oak barrels can last up to 18 months. This beer is then blended with a sweeter young beer just before bottling, resulting in an excellent thirst-quenching Ichtegems Oud Brun.
