Description
“Anchor” Chardonnay , a grape ale presented by a Crimean brewery, became a breakthrough in local brewing. This style is considered more traditional in the Italian provinces and is a duo of beer and wine, in which the wine profile harmoniously complements the malt character. Since it is Italy that is considered the birthplace of grape beer, the famous Italian brewer Michele Cartaino was specially invited to make “Anchor” Chardonnay. The collaboration Crimean-Italian brewing of the first Crimean grape ale took place on September 1, 2018. The beer is made exclusively from natural ingredients: pure water, premium English and Belgian malts, European and American varieties of hops, Belgian brewer’s yeast, natural grape juice. “Anchor” Chardonnay was produced in a very limited quantity, only 2,000 bottles. For the production of this batch, 500 kg of Chardonnay grapes were used, grown in the vineyards of Rem Akchurin. Grape juice is added during boiling and ripening. The grapes grown in the ideal conditions of the Sevastopol terroir are distinguished by an excellent balance of acidity and sugar content, which could not but affect the finished drink. The result is a beer in which malt and bright wine notes intertwine, rather than overshadowing each other, but harmoniously complementing each other. The beer is matured in the tank for more than 3 months, and then the Belgian method of additional fermentation in the bottle is applied.
