Description
Elegant red dry “Haiku”, 2010 – a new wine from Castello di Ama. The very name, coming from the traditional genre of Japanese poetry, transmitted image of ancient traditions and nature. Japanese haiku consists of three lines – and this wine combines three grape varieties, reflects the full force of its terroir.
The grapes for the wonderful natural wine “Haiku” is going to single vineyard Montebuoni. Here grow Sangiovese and Merlot, as well as new wines this economy Cabernet Franc. Grapes are carefully harvested by hand in small boxes, and then carefully sorted, carried destemming and soft pressing. Fermentation is carried out with natural yeast in stainless steel at a temperature of about 30-32 C. Maceration is also done within 4 weeks and malolactic fermentation in oak barrels for 12 months. After fermentation, the wine “Haiku” is aged in barriques for 12 months and then for another year in the bottle.
Castello di Ama company was founded in 1972. Ama is a small hamlet in the heart of Chianti Classico, between two hills in the commune of Gaiole in Chianti Siena. Farming company occupies 250 hectares, 90 hectares of which are vineyards. Despite its youth, the Castello di Ama quickly became famous and was among the best wine producers in Italy.
As we learned from retrieved documents, land Ama is particularly suitable for growing grapes and producing quality wines. Ama was among the vineyards, olive groves and forests.
