  • “Flaccianello della Pieve” – great wine, by which Fontodi once again able to prove that the Colli della Toscana Centrale – one of the most favorable regions for winemaking. The wine has a rich and very fragrant bouquet, rich, long taste and long aging potential of 15-25 years.

    “Della Pieve Flachchanello” is made from Sangiovese grapes, harvested by hand and selected to the “della Pieve Flachchanello” – a special vineyard farming area of 10 hectares. It is located on a hill in height of 380-400 meters above sea level in the valley of the Conca d’Oro south of Panzano, in the heart of Chianti Classico. Age of vines is 30 years. The soils are clay-limestone. Stocking density of vines is 6,000 plants per hectare. Spontaneous fermentation using the yeast’s natural maceration and regular immersion tank caps made of stainless steel at a controlled temperature for 3 weeks. Malolactic fermentation is carried out in barrels. Extract of wine in French oak barrels and Allier Tronkays lasts 18 months. In the year produces about 60,000 bottles of excellent wine.

    Fontodi estate located in the heart of Chianti Classico. Name “Fontodi” translates from Latin as “a place where a lot of water.” Fine wines Fontodi were known in the early 20th century. To date, the economy managed by brothers Marco and Giovanni Manetti, who, together with the famous enologist Frank Barnaby adhere to traditional winemaking techniques and use biological system of growing grapes without the use of chemical fertilizers. The absence of any “chemistry” enables to enhance wines, including a cuvee “della Pieve Flachchanello” natural characteristics of the terroir.
