Wine “Fontanelle”, Sant’Antimo DOC, 2021

Description

The name of the wine “Fontanelle” means “fontanelle”. For the first time this wine was produced in 1982. Then it is released under Toscana IGT. In 1996, through the efforts of Banfi appeared appellason Sant’Antimo DOC, legalized Supertuscan local wine and authorized the use of all registered varieties in the province of Siena. Chardonnay wine is collected from many different sites that are located in the southern part of Montalcino at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level. The soils in this area are sandy, interspersed with large limestone. The grapes are harvested in early September. Winery bunch entirely cooled to 8-10 C, followed by a destemming and spin. Alcoholic fermentation takes place partly in French barriques (75%), partly in stainless steel tanks (25%) at a temperature of 16 C for two weeks. For a part of malolactic fermentation is carried wort. Extract of wine on the lees lasts 5-6 months. After bottling the wine is further aged in the bottle for 8-10 months. Potenuial wine storage is 5-7 years.
