Description
Friesland, “Berg & See” Chenin Blanc is a high-quality, rich and fresh wine with bright fruity tones, reflecting the splendor of the Stellenbosch hills and the proximity to the ocean. The grapes for this wine come mainly from a single vineyard, planted in 1982 at an altitude of about 1000 meters above sea level. Vinification takes place according to traditional methods in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. 90% of the wine is aged in 300-liter barrels from French Marsannay wine for 6 months, of which 4 months are on the lees.
The 2022 vintage received a Double Gold Medal at the Gilbert & Gaillard International Competition.
The label of the Friesland terroir wines features a landscape with a windmill, which is linked to the memories of De Bruijn’s late father, Cosey, who grew up in Sutherland, the coldest town and the capital of astronomical observations in the Karoo. The windmill on the Friesland farm symbolises Cosey’s roots.
