Family group Mascarello Giuseppe e Figlio definitely is one of the largest producers of Barolo. Today the winery, established in traditional style, manages Mauro Mascarello – fourth generation of his famous family. The origins of the creation of the estate date back to the mid-1800s, when Giuseppe Mascarello made a name for himself, having proved a great winemaker. At first he worked in the estate Manescotto and managed vineyards belonging to the Marquise Giulia Colbert Falettidi Barolo, and then in 1881 he acquired its own vineyards and cellars in the village of Monforte d’Alba. His son Maurizio Mascarello in 1904 bought a farm and land on a large vineyard Monprivato in the nearby village of Castiglione Falletto and translates back the family business. From this day the name of the legendary vineyard Mascarello Monprivato inextricably linked. In 1921, Maurizio puts the family business in a new location, buying an old beautiful building of the XVIII century, an architectural landmark of Piedmont, in the neighboring village of Monchiero. To this day, the estate Mascarello is here.
After the death of Maurizio in 1923, management of the estate took over his two sons – and Giuseppe Natale. Brothers parted company and vineyards among themselves, and the demand for their wines of excellent quality continued to grow. In 1967, Mauro, the son of Giuseppe, head of the company, and in 1979 after the death of his uncle Natal buys part of vineyards and reunites company.
In addition to the flagship vineyard Monprivato from which you are one of the most complex and irresistibly elegant Barolo , the company Giuseppe Mascarello e Filho today still has excellent vineyard Barolo “Villero”, Barolo “Bricco” and Barolo “Santo Stefano di Perno”. At present, the company Mascarello rightly considered one of the greatest producers of the best Italian wines in the world.
