  • Oremus, “Tokaji Asz” Puttonosh 5, 2005 – delicious Hungarian wine, which is made from overripe grapes affected noble rot (botrytis). The term “Aszu”, literally translated as “dry”, today is associated with a type of wine made from botrytised zaizyumlennogo grapes. The entire crop is harvested by hand and placed in special wooden containers (Puttonen) with a capacity of 25 kg. During the week comes the pressure of grapes under their own weight, as a result produces a very concentrated grape juice, which is then discarded and the remaining grapes are pressed. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels for 60 days. The wine is called by the number of containers – Puttonen (puttonyos), loaded into the container.

The first mention of the appearance of Tokaj wine dates back to 1550. In 1606 in Moscow for his daughter’s wedding with Falsdmitry Jerzy Mniszech brought 30 beautiful Tokaj wine barrels. There had to taste the wine and the Hungarian wines to drink now became customary as the court and in the nobles. And in 1745, Russia had even organized a special commission on purchases of wines from Tokaj, which bought those wines which enjoyed the highest reputation. The modern method of wine production has been developed chaplain Rakoczy family. In 1703, the founder of the economy Oremus, Prince Rakoczy, sent a batch of wine to the king of France, Louis XIV, who now called Tokay wine “Royal”. These wines have always been considered a treasure, their loved outstanding face of world politics, the world of art and science.

In 1993, Vega Sicilia, one of the greatest wineries in Spain, saw great potential in the region, the estate acquires Oremus, located in the heart of Tokaj. Thus, the identity of the family Alvarez added to the historical traditions of the region. Pablo Alvarez, managing director of Vega Sicilia, is also responsible for the project. The nearest river Bodrog provides excellent conditions for the appearance of botrytis. Oremus in the vineyards grow traditional varieties: Furmint, Harslevelu, Muscat Lunel and Zeta.
