  • “Le Serre Nuove”, 2011 – perfectly balanced, seductive wine, whose first vintage was released in 1997. In a blend of wine grape varieties include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc. 2011 was characterized by hot and dry weather conditions. This was the reason that the harvest was much earlier than planned. Harvest began to gather at the end of August, and completed by the end of September. The grapes are harvested by hand. Further, grapes sorted twice, and then subjected to gentle compression. Each grape variety is fermented separately in special stainless steel containers for 10-15 days. Fermentation temperature is maintained within 26-30 C. Then the wine is in the process of maceration, which lasts about 10 days. Extract of wine in special French oak barrels lasts 12 months. Then the wine is further blended and maintained for 3 months. The wine is bottled and aged in the cellars of the winery for 6 months. Only after this time-consuming work and bulk wine sold.

    Philosophy Tenuta del ‘Ornellaia is based on the pursuit of high quality. Vineyards are farms in Bolgheri – Tuscan subregion, located off the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The mild Mediterranean climate and beautiful soil provide ideal conditions for ripening grapes. The total area is 97 hectares of vineyards, the vineyards grow varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot.

    Wine production is carried out on the basis of the characteristics of the harvest, the grapes are harvested by hand only when it reaches optimum maturity. In homage to the unique and precious terroir grapes from each vineyard is fermented separately.
