Description
Saint-Emilion is the oldest wine area of the Bordeaux region. The first vines were planted here by the Romans in the II century. In the IV century Roman poet Ozone sang in his poems wine with vines of Saint Emilion. Organization UNESCO has terroir St Emilion World Heritage List. Saint Emilion wines are considered the most authentic of Bordeaux wines. They are very generous and reach their maturity quicker than other red wines of Bordeaux.
Vineyards Merlot and Cabernet Franc, yields of which are used for the production of wine Chateau Soutard, located just 800 meters from Saint-Emilion. The total area is 27 hectares, and vineyards occupy 22 hectares. The area is 70% of the limestone-clay plateau, 17% is occupied by clay hills and 13% sandy coast. The average age of the vines is 35 years. Magnificent terroir will guarantee high quality of wines and late harvest (beginning – October 12, 2009, the end of the collection – 21 October 2009) and a large selection of vines submitted winemakers only healthy and fully ripe bunches. Harvesting is done by hand. After vinification, including a temperature-controlled fermentation and malolactic fermentation in oak barrels (80% – new), the wine is aged 12 months in French oak barrels, of which 70% – a new, 30% – annuals.
Chateau Soutard, belonging to the family of the count Liner, traces its history to 1836 and has not changed much over the years. Chateau Soutar is one of the oldest castles in the region, its territory covers about 22 hectares. Limestone plateau, which is located Chateau, to withstand any, even extreme weather conditions without damage to the vineyards. Today Chateau Soutar offers traditional Saint Emilion wine with huge potential storage (on average – 20-25 years).
