Roagna, Barbaresco “Crichet Paje” – a world-class wine, incredibly refined, completely seductive and sensual. Nothing in it is bold or plentiful; it exudes sophisticated elegance and balance in perfect balance.
“Crichet Paj” is a special micro-site with an area of just over 0.5 hectares with a unique microclimate, located in the central part of the Payet vineyard. The soil of the site is unusually rich in white marl and a large amount of active limestone. It cultivates the best Nebbiolo, whose berries ripen perfectly and gain maximum from the soil and good exposure, protected from the strongest winds by high hills. The minimum age of the vines on the site is 60 years. Old vines often give only one bunch, in some years they do not produce anything at all. Harvested by hand at full maturity. After fermentation with natural yeast in large oak barrels, the wine is aged in cement and oak barrels for 10 years. The production of Barbaresco “Cricket Payet” is very limited, in some years it is less than 1000 bottles, maximum – a little over 2000.
