  • “Mezes Maly” Tokaji Aszu 6 Puttonyos, 2003 – a traditional sweet Tokaji wine with sugar content of 235 g / l. This full-bodied wine has a fine texture and excellent acidity. It is produced from the harvest of the vineyard with the highest category Mezes Mali. The name of the vineyard means “honeycomb”. It is located near the village of Tarcal and occupies 19 hectares. Wine is made by adding 6 Puttonen (boxes) of crushed berries zaizyumlennyh (Aszu) per 140-liter barrel of wine last year’s harvest, made of ordinary grapes. Then the wine is aged five and a half years old Hungarian oak barrels and 15 months in bottles. Bottled wine in the traditional bottle – a replica of the XVIII century, made by hand. The wine can be drunk immediately after bottling or withstand up to 15-20 years.

    Company Royal Tokaji, led by Ben Hawkins, was able to return to European wine connoisseurs historical Tokay Aszu. The company aims to make it historically correct royal Tokay, which is reflected in the company’s name – “Royal Tokaji”. The revival of the famous traditional Aszu Tokaj wines started in 1989. Then the problem became interested in famous European wine experts – Hugh Johnson and Peter Winding Diers. They met with Tokaji wine makers, save a recipe of the Tokay. These winemakers have always done this a few barrels of wine, but for the sake of survival were forced to sell local vinokombinatu almost all of its grapes.

    Now the company owns Royal Tokai 106 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Tokaj region in Tarcal and Made. This – four vineyard first class and one second class. The vines grow in a continental climate on volcanic soils. Here are planted the vines age 15-20 years varieties Furmint, Harslevelu and Muscat Lunel, allowed for the production of Tokaj wines. The names correspond to the names of wines produced by vineyards: “Betsek”, “Birsalmas”, “Nyulaszo”, “Mezes Maly” and “Tamas”. In addition to single vineyard wines produced blend “Blue Label” and rare Tokay wine “Essencia” and “Aszu Essencia”.
