Description
Tenuta di Sesta, Brunello di Montalcino DOCG is an exquisite red dry wine made from Sangiovese grapes harvested from the best vineyards of the farm. The vineyards are located at an altitude of 280-350 meters above sea level. It is the DOCG rules that require Brunello vineyards to be planted on hills with good sunlight, at an altitude of no more than 600 meters above sea level to ensure optimal grape ripeness before harvest. If the height of the location of the vineyards exceeds the indicated mark, then the colder mesoclimate will not allow the berries to ripen evenly. Fortunately, the climate in Montalcino is one of the warmest and driest in Tuscany, and therefore unripe berries are rare here. This is especially facilitated by the southern exposure of the vineyards. All work in the vineyard is done by hand, from pruning vines to harvesting. At the winery, the berries are gently pressed and macerated for 21-25 days for better color and tannin extraction. Fermentation and malolactic fermentation take place in steel vats with automatic temperature control. Then the wine is aged for 30-36 months in 30 hl Slavonian oak barrels, and then another 12 months in bottles after bottling.
