Description
Tenuta Rocca, “Lauchum”, Langhe DOC is a rich red dry wine, which is the result of collaboration between Tenuta Rocca winemakers and French oenologists. The wine is made from Sangiovese and Merlot grapes, which are grown in the company’s vineyards in the Langhe. Langhe is a hilly region east of the Tanaro River and south of Alba, in the Cuneo province of Piedmont. The name “Lange” is the plural form of “langa”, the local word for a long, low hill. Since its inception in November 1994, Langhe DOC has gained a significant reputation for its pioneering viticulture and use of international grape varieties. The creativity of local winemakers has led to the creation of a new generation of high quality wines, many of which are comparable to the prestigious Tuscan. The vineyards apply sustainable farming methods. Harvested when the berries reach optimum ripeness. Vinification for different varieties takes place separately. The berries are traditionally fermented with selected yeast and then aged in French oak barrels. The final assemblage is made just before bottling. Wine potential is 12-13 years.
