Description
Due to its undeniably high quality wine Torraccia del Piantavigna, Gattinara DOCG is among the most representative Italian wines, both domestically and internationally. The territory of Gattinara DOCG covers only 100 hectares, the soil is a defining element in the nature of the future wine. Steep hills are washed by the cool waters of Monterosa, and volcanic soils are rich in minerals and have a pronounced acidity. Good drainage allows moisture to penetrate deep into the soil, supporting the vines in a particularly dry summer. As a result, small berries get a high tannin content, which gives the Gattinara wine a relatively tough character.
Harvested by hand in the first half of October to preserve the integrity of the peel. After traditional maceration on the skins, fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks. The wine is aged in Allier French oak barrels for at least 3 years. After bottling, it remains in the bottles for about 6 months.
