After pressing, the wort is subjected to maceration for 18 days, and then fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a temperature varying from 27 to 28 C. Wine aging, lasting from 18 to 24 months, carried out in oak barrels. At the end of the wine bottled and kept in the glass for another 3 months. Experts say that at the peak of its maturity, the vintage of 2014 will be until 2023. The wine was awarded a silver medal at the “Decanter Asia Wine Awards”.

Castello di Poppiano has been a Guicciardini company for 9 centuries since 1199. Built to be the external defense of Florence, it has always been the center of viticulture and the cultivation of olives. To date, the winery has at its disposal 130 hectares of vineyards and 47 hectares of olive groves. The annual turnover of products is about 100 thousand boxes of wine and 50 thousand bottles of oil.

The Cusona possessions, which belong to the Guichchardini Strozzi company, are located on the banks of the Elza River and lie on the way from Paris to Rome. The first mention of the Manor of Kuzona in historical sources dates back to 994, as the farm of the Bibbiano family. As early as the first decades of the 15th century, the Bardi family, who owned the estate at that time, was already engaged in the cultivation of vines, making wine from Vernachcha. A century later, Girolamo Guichchardini, being a count, married a Bardi girl. Thanks to a happy marriage, he got possession of Cuson, who since then irrevocably belonged to the Guichchardini family, who had been caring for their vineyards for centuries, which brought world-wide fame to it.

A significant contribution was made by Francesco Gucchardini (Minister of Agriculture), who had been involved in the estate for three years, starting in 1906. Often the stories of the families of Stroitsi and Guichchardinni are rightly associated with the Renaissance. The proof of the justification of such a statement is the finest architectural work – the Strozzi Palace and the historically proven connection of the family with the Medici family.
