Description
In 1990, Carla Visconti, wife of Flavio Fanti, owner of the La Palazzetta winery, decided to launch her own line of wines called “Visconti” , using the crop of the already well-established La Palazzetta winery, founded in Castelnuovo dell’Abate in 1988. Since 2018, all wines have been certified organic, biodynamic and vegan.
“Visconti” Brunello di Montalcino is made from Sangiovese grapes, which is grown in Castelnuovo del’Abate at an altitude of 365 meters above sea level on calcareous soil, rich in marble chips. The age of the vines is 35-40 years. The crop is carefully selected and harvested by hand. After fermentation with natural yeast cultures at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks, the wine is aged for 3.5 years in French oak barrels and another 6 months in bottles after bottling.
The 2016 vintage won gold medals at Mundus Vini 2021 and from Gilbert & Gaillard.
